HCM 681 - Strategic Planning in Health Care Information Systems This course empowers health care students with the skills and knowledge to create business value through information systems. The alignment of business and IT strategies as a source of competitive advantage and mission fulfillment is the focus of this course. Students learn how to develop a strategic IT plan that addresses the social, organizational, economic, cultural and political dimensions encountered in deployment of major systems. Case studies from other industries will be analyzed to better understand how the challenges and opportunities entailed in the strategic management of information systems can be successfully addressed in a health care environment.
Prerequisite: HCM 532 and HCM 651 3 credits
