NU 500 - Theoretical Bases For Advanced Practice Nursing The focus of this course is the study of a wide range of theories from nursing and related sciences that support and inform advanced practice nursing. Emphasis will be placed on evaluating and critiquing a variety of theories from nursing, as well as the natural, social, organizational and biological sciences. Students will be prepared to apply and utilize various theories in practice that support a holistic approach to patient care, a firm foundation for theory application in health care organizations, and an emphasis on population-based care. Specific emphasis will be placed on direct application and evaluation of the Roy Adaptation Model in advanced practice nursing.
Four hours a week one semester. 4 credits
