CSED 540 - Foundations, Theory and Practice of Bilingual General and Special Education The purpose of this course is to provide the history, philosophy and legal/judicial underpinnings of bilingual/multicultural and TESOL general and special education in America. It will examine principles, policies, court decisions and legislation at the local, state and federal levels as well as provide a review of relevant program designs, models, research and practices that focus on high quality standards-based education for linguistically diverse learners at the early childhood, elementary, middle grade and secondary education levels.
1 semester. 3 credits. Ten hours of fieldwork observation.
