SPC 365 - Educational Theatre
This course will examine the various pedagogical functions of drama and theatre, considering educational theatre from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Students will gain an understanding of the historical development of educational theatre, a familiarity with the work of significant leaders in the field, and an understanding of how the incorporation of various aspects and techniques of educational theatre in the classroom (and related community settings) can function to increase student engagement and aid in the acquisition of various cognitive and social skills. Students will also develop the ability to integrate and adapt key strategies and techniques for use with a variety of age ranges.
