RS 245 - That All May Be One: The History and the Mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph

The mission and charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph is the foundation of the mission and values of St. Joseph’s College. Their mission represents a blueprint for service and social responsibility in a way that addresses the most pressing issues of our time:  the need to care for all of creation, the inherent dignity of all who are our “dear neighbor,” the role of women in our society, and the importance of loving without distinction. In this course, the history, mission and maxims of the Sisters of St. Joseph and their relevance for our world today will be studied through a variety of readings, assignments, and field trips. This will be an experiential learning course that will include a service project, visits to the motherhouse in Brentwood, and opportunities to be involved in the environmental projects sponsored there. Credits can be applied to the Peace and Justice Studies Minor and/or the Mindfulness Minor.

1 semester 3 credits.
