HIS 315 - Modern Japan A survey of Japanese history from the Meiji Restoration (1868) to the present. The course will emphasize industrialization, nationalism, social and political movements, war and empire, postwar occupation, the “economic miracle,” and continuity and divergence in the postwar period.
Prerequisite: 6 credits in history 1 semester 3 credits.
