Required Courses (24 credits)

 All Journalism majors must take the following eight courses:

• JNM 108 - Intro to Journalism 3 credits.

• JNM 110 - Journalism Workshop: The Art of the Essay 3 credits. or
• ENG 125 - An Introduction to Magazine Writing 3 credits.

•  

• One of the following four courses:

• ART 165 - Graphic Design I 3 credits. or
• ART 269 - Digital Photography 3 credits. or
• ART 277 - Web Design 3 credits. or
• COM 205 - Multimedia Applications 3 credits

•  

• JNM 200 - History of Media 3 credits. or
• JNM 205 - Media and Society 3 credits.

•  

• JNM 210 - Digital Reporting 3 credits
• JNM 340 - The Business of Media 3 credits.
• JNM 411 - Senior Thesis 3 credits
• JNM 435 - Supervised Internship 3 credits

History Requirement (3 Credits)

• HIS 274 - Long Island in History 3 credits. or
• HIS 276 - History of New York: State and City 3 credits.

• One of which all Journalism majors must take as the History requirement of their Self and Society CORE.

Electives (18 credits)

Journalism majors take six additional classes (18) credits from among the following options, but must take a minimum of two classes from each of the categories to ensure comprehensive mastery of the major.

• JNM 311 - Data-Driven Journalism and Infographics 3 credits
