Human Services, B.S./M.S. Human Services Leadership (Professional Studies)

This Masters of Science degree in Human Services Leadership program is designed to produce visionary leaders who will make a profound impact on their organizations and the communities that these organizations serve. The program aims to service the human services professional in an executive level position or the manager who aspires to an executive leadership position in his or her field. This degree will focus on providing a broader knowledge and skill set aimed at developing the multi-level leadership competencies necessary to set an inspirational vision, develop policy and direct the operations of human services organizations of various sizes in the public and private sector. These competencies will include use of information technology, development of new funding sources, advocacy, coalition building, program evaluation and multiculturalism.

Students can apply after their sophomore year for the dual degree program.  Qualified students who are accepted to the 5-year program will then enroll in one graduate course in their junior year and 2-3 graduate courses in their senior year. These four courses may count as major and/or general elective requirements at the undergraduate level, and incur no extra tuition beyond the regular undergraduate tuition. Upon undergraduate graduation, the student will complete the remaining six graduate courses for the Graduate degree. 

Applicants are required to complete the following courses with a grade of C or better:

            HS 329 - Human Services Delivery System

 

Additional prerequisite for Graduate program

Students must be employed, volunteering or interning in a human service agency or program.

In order to complete the graduate degree in 1 additional year, undergraduate students must complete the 4 below graduate courses while earning their bachelor’s degree.  Less than 4 graduate courses during the undergraduate will extend completion of the graduate degree.

HSL-501 Leading in Mission Driven Environments - Must be Taken and Passed First. This course is a perquisite for the other 3 graduate courses listed below.
