Major: 36 credits

All students pursuing the major are required to complete at least one 400 - level course.

All students pursuing the major are required to complete two 300 - level courses.

Required Courses

The following courses are required to complete the major:

SPC 102 - Introduction to Human Communication 3 credits.
SPC 115 - Voice and Diction 3 credits.
SPC 204 - Interpersonal Communication 3 credits.
OR
SPC 218 - Language Development 3 credits.

Electives

18 credits selected from the entire range offered and with departmental guidance according to the student’s interests and needs.

Bilingual Option

Students may choose to major in Communication Studies and minor in Spanish in order to develop bilingual skill. Six courses in Spanish will be completed with advisement from the Department of Modern Languages; the emphasis should be on grammar, composition, and conversation.
