Community Services (SJNY Long Island)

The Community Service Track is designed to prepare students to participate in programs of service to individuals and groups in the community.

Total Credits Required: 15

A brief description of each course noted below may be found in the appropriate Department listings.

Courses required for certification in this Career Track:

SOC 140 - Introduction to Social Work 3 credits
SOC 241 - Experience In Social Work 3 credits.

An additional nine credits may be selected from the following courses:

CS 121 - Psychology of the Exceptional Child 3 credits.
CJ 244 - Corrections 3 credits. Prerequisite: SOC 100 or SOC 133 or SOC 136
POL 104 - State and Local Government 3 credits
PSY 230 - Adult Development and Aging 3 credits
PSY 325 - Introduction to Behavior Analysis 3 credits.
PSY 370 - Introduction to Clinical Psychology 3 credits.
SOC 136 - Social Problems 3 credits
SOC 220 - Sociology of Deviant Behavior 3 credits Prerequisite: SOC 133
SOC 243 - Criminology 3 credits.
SOC 249 - Race and Ethnicity 3 credits
