Theatre Specialization (SJNY Long Island)

Students choosing this specialization will be prepared for graduate study or careers in various fields including: educational theatre; theatre management, production, or performance; law; public relations; leadership; and more. This proposal for updating our existing specialization is submitted in order to enable our students to best develop their knowledge of theatre and its connections to communication, while completing their BA degree in the highly marketable field of Communication Studies.

SPC 102 - Introduction to Human Communication 3 credits.
SPC 115 - Voice and Diction 3 credits.
SPC 204 - Interpersonal Communication 3 credits.
SPC 130 - Introduction to the Theatre 3 credits.
SPC 235 - Play Production 3 credits.
SPC 317 - Oral Interpretation of Literature 3 credits.
SPC 365 - Educational Theatre 3 credits.
SPC 430 - Critical Issues in Communication Studies 3 credits.

Up to three credits of additional/other related coursework approved by Communication Studies Department Chair
