Communication Studies and Media Specialization (SJNY Long Island)

Students completing this specialization within the Communication Studies BA program will graduate prepared for careers in the areas of social media, sports communication, public relations, politics, journalism, and more. The proposed update to our offerings is necessary for us to match the current standard necessary to prepare university students for professional success in the field of Communication Studies.

SPC 102 - Introduction to Human Communication 3 credits.
SPC 115 - Voice and Diction 3 credits.
SPC 204 - Interpersonal Communication 3 credits.
SPC 208 - Listening Theories and Applications 3 credits.
SPC 222 - Nonverbal Communication 3 credits.
SPC 317 - Oral Interpretation of Literature 3 credits.
SPC 430 - Critical Issues in Communication Studies 3 credits.

SPC 300 - The Art of Influence: Persuasive Communication 3 credits.
SPC 330 - Rhetorical Communication through the Ages 3 credits.

JNM 218 - Social Media in Theory & Practice 3 credits.
