Organizational and Professional Communication Minor (SJNY Long Island)

The minor in “Organizational & Professional Communication” requires students to complete eighteen credits of required coursework. All students in the minor begin with nine credits (three courses) of required foundational coursework relevant with six credits coming from the Communication Studies Department, and three credits coming from the Business Department. This coursework is required as it provides learning essential for moving on to more advanced required coursework in the minor, for which students select three more courses from a list of options. This list of options includes coursework from both Communication Studies and Business, and the opportunity to select three-credits of additional/other coursework. If this option is selected, the additional/other course must be directly related to the area of student interest within the minor, and must also be approved by the Chair of Communication Studies. This minor is open to all students and is recommended for those in the fields of professional and organizational communication, as well as those in the areas of business, marketing, and related fields, as well as any students interested in improving their communication efficacy.
