Communication and Theatre Studies Minor (SJNY Long Island)

The minor in “Theatre” requires students to complete eighteen credits of theatre-related work. All students in the minor begin with the required foundational course, SPC 130, Introduction to Theatre and, from there, select five more courses from a list of options. Students may select courses from within the Communication Studies Department, or from other areas, as long as the courses relate to theatre and are approved by the Communication Studies Department chairperson. Interdisciplinary coursework is not required but, if selected, relevant courses may come from departments including English, Dance, or Foreign Languages, or others as is relevant. This minor is open to all students and is recommended for this with a personal or professional interest in learning more about theatre.
