MATHEMATICS MAJOR
(BA or BS degree)
A major in mathematics may earn either the B.A. or the B.S. degree. Candidates for either degree must complete 40 credits of mathematics in which an average grade of C must be attained. Required Courses: 31 credits
Electives: 9 credits
Electives are chosen according to the students’ interests and career plans with the direction of their advisors and must be at the MAT 203 level or higher. Additional Requirements for B.S. degree in Mathematics

Mathematics majors who choose to have a double major with Computer Science may substitute 2 advanced computer science courses in lieu of two terms of physics to receive a B.S. degree. Actuarial Science Strand:
This strand, consisting of two additional mathematics courses and several courses from other departments, has been attached to the Mathematics Major in order to help prepare students for prospective careers in the actuarial field.
