The B.S. in Medical Technology prepares students for careers in the health care field as clinical laboratory scientists. The program requires 96 credits toward the St. Joseph’s College curriculum (which can include transfer credit) and one year of specialized didactic and clinical training in an approved hospital program. St. Joseph’s has an agreement with New York Methodist Hospital School of Clinical Laboratory Science to provide this final year. The program at the School of Laboratory Science is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). Students who complete the program receive a B.S. from St. Joseph’s College and a Certificate from the School of Clinical Laboratory Science. Graduates are eligible for licensure in New York and may sit for the examination administered by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Students with prior medical training and/or non-traditional educational backgrounds would pursue their primary program in the School of Professional and Graduate Studies at St. Joseph’s College followed by one year of study at New York Methodist Hospital School of Clinical Laboratory Science.
